IN Board of Education Strategic Plan

To follow-up with discussions at the IACTE meeting on Friday, February 27th, several members of the IACTE Executive Committee were in attendance at the Indiana State Board of Education meeting yesterday. Shared at the meeting was the attached "action plan" for the Department of Education. Note #3 which addresses licensing and teacher/administrator preparation specifically. The plan was not discussed during the course of the meeting.

We were advised that the new director of the Office of Educator Licensing and Development (OELD), Pat Mapes, will be responsible for facilitating the work associated with #3. Attached is an article from the Star Press that provides more information about Mr. Mapes, the former superintendent of the Delaware Community Schools Corporation. http://www.thestarpress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009902190341. He will begin his new position in OELD March 30, and the Executive Committee will plan to meet with him during April to introduce IACTE and to offer to work in collaboration in addressing the efforts "to improve instructional quality and enhance school governance and leadership."
